Boydell & Brewer are pleased to announce that the University of Massachusetts Amherst Libraries are a new subscribing member to our Opening the Future program.

The library has boosted their local collection by subscribing to the combined package of Boydell & Brewer’s OtF backlist books. This means that staff and students now have unlimited and concurrent access to 150 different eBooks on subjects including the Medieval world and its literature, histories and societies; music and the performing arts; and African politics and economics.

As with all Opening the Future members, UMass Amherst has enhanced their eBook collection with titles relevant to the university’s research and teaching needs - and at the same time their membership fees are funding new frontlist titles in OA format, contributing to a global open collection.

Through the generous support of member libraries all over the world the program has already funded 80+ new OA books at other presses running OtF - and Boydell & Brewer looks forward to identifying and publishing its first OtF-funded titles very soon. The OA books will be freely available for download from OAPEN, JSTOR and other open platforms.

If you would like to see how your own library might similarly enhance your digital collection by becoming a member of Opening the Future, you can read more about the program at boydell.openingthefuture.net or sign up directly via Lyrasis by emailing them on membersupport@lyrasis.org.
